Jammu, April 2. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that essential supplies, including LPG and fuel, are currently sufficient in the Union Territory, while cautioning that a prolonged international conflict could impact availability.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir, like the rest of the country, has no control over developments at the international level.
“What happens internationally is not in our control. The situation there will have an impact here as well,” he said.
The remarks come amid concerns over supply chains due to tensions in West Asia, which have raised questions about fuel availability and logistics across regions dependent on external sources.
Omar Abdullah said the current stock of essential commodities and fuel is adequate for the next 10 to 15 days.
“For now, there is no shortage of essential or fuel supplies, and we have adequate stock for the next 10 to 15 days,” he said.
He urged the public not to panic, stating that supplies are being maintained through multiple channels.
“People need not panic for the next few weeks. The Prime Minister has assured that supplies are being maintained,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that any disruption at the national level due to a prolonged conflict could eventually affect Jammu and Kashmir as well.
“If the conflict continues and shortages arise in the country, it will affect us too,” he said.
He also assured that the government would keep the public informed of any changes in the situation.
“If there is any change, I will inform you,” he added
