Srinagar, Oct 31: The aspirants of JE civil examination scheduled on November 2 of 2025 citing apprehension of traffic mess in Srinagar city in view of the International Marathon being organized on the same day in Srinagar.Greater Kashmir received scores of distressed calls and emails from aspirants who said that holding scheduled exam on November 2 will cause huge inconveniences to the aspirants.City will witness traffic restrictions in many areas and it will cause inconveniences to the public, particularly the aspirants in reaching the exam centres,” the aspirants said.The aspirants said initially the exam was scheduled from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM but the timing was revised and fixed from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.Considering the onset of winter, it becomes dark by around 5:45 PM to 6:00 PM, making it extremely difficult for many candidates, particularly those travelling from distant areas,” the aspirants said.They said the female candidates and married women will face huge inconveniences to return home safely and conveniently after the examination.The aspirants said that most of them cannot afford to stay overnight or arrange accommodation in Srinagar.“The combined effect of traffic restrictions due to the marathon and early sunset will cause significant hardship and anxiety among candidates,” the aspirants said.The aspirants said they approached the JKSSB officials with a plea to postpone the exams, but the plea went to “deaf ears.”“When we approached JKSSB, we were told that it was not the responsibility of the exam conducting body. But if they will not take this responsibility to ensure smooth conduct of the examination, then who will take it,” the aspirants asked.The aspirants complained that the date of the international marathon was made public long back and JKSSB should have scheduled the JE civil exams on different dates to avoid any inconveniences faced by the aspirants.“The marathon and traffic restrictions were announced in advance. The authorities at JKSSB should have planned the exam schedule accordingly. But going ahead with the exam on the scheduled date with inconvenient timing has created apprehensions among many aspirants of losing their opportunity to appear for it,” the aspirants said.They urged the J&K CM for his personal intervention into the matter and to get the exam rescheduled for the convenience of the aspirants.Controller of Examinations, JK Services Selection Board Muhammad Reyaz Malik was not available for his comments on the issue.
